My 9 yr old daughter, at age 6, showed signs of premature puberty with increased body hair growth, breast development, major mood swings. She has severe allergies, asthma, sleep apnea, ADHD type symptoms, emotional lability, frequent strep throat infections. She recently saw a ped. endocrinologist. The doc did hormone levels and then acth stim. She had elevated dhea, and 17 oh pregnenolone, both b4 after stim. 11-deoxycortisol and doc were both low. X-ray of wrist showed 2 yr. advanced bone age. She was put on 5mg of cortef and then 1 month later 250 mg of metformin, because she gained 1.1 kg in 1 month (because of cortef, I'm sure) . But now her LH and FSH are 5-6 x what they were b4 cortef and her moods seem just like PMS major.
Dr. told me benign adrenarche but I picked up records today and it states 3beta hsd type of change. Anyone know what this means???
Should also mention that I am being evaluated for adrenal disorder, possible Addison's.
