Hi,

I was taked off the hydrocortizone at 14 and was on birth control, which is a form of a steroid, which kept me in pretty good standing lab wise until I was 21. My hormone levels went nuts and I was put on dex and have been on it now for 5 years.

Currently I am about to see a new endo because my decided not to tell me some things and my levels are waaaaay surrpressed and it looks like when I had my last bone age in 2003, the dr I was seeing deceided NOT to tell me the I had osteopenia, which is the precurser to osteoperosis, and was never put on a boneva type medicine.

We were told when I was little that steroids can hurt the bones by wearing them down and I was given calcium supplements for years. Osteoperosis can be common for people on steroids. I also took alot of vitmains even when I was 7 to try and boost my immune system. So at 7 I took in all about 8 to 10 pills per day. We had a holistic doctor help us with this as well as the endo. In fact it was the holistic dr that figured that I had an endocrine problem and went with us to see the endo.

I know it can be scarry, but I promise you it won't always be like this. I still have my ups and downs with the disease, but these days the knowledge is much better.

if you have any more questions let me know. also this is my email addy: jstierextreme@yahoo.com.
