re: re: Prenatal Diagnosis of CAH

An amnio at this stage in the pregnancy would not be worth the risk.  Meds would need to be started within the first trimester of a pregnancy to be effective.  At this point the amnio would only tell you if your child is affected/carrier/unaffected, starting meds would not be effective.  Is the risk of an amnio worth it at this point?

I have a 15 month old SWCAH daughter who had no real viralization, so it is possible for a girl to be affected and not have viralization.

My husband and I both had DNA testing done to verify that we are both carriers.  I don't know about what your dr is telling you, but we both tested positive as carriers.

Congratulations on your upcoming birth!!!  You and your wife are doing the right thing by researching the just incases!!  Good luck with everything.

Sheala
