Of course there's nothing wrong with feeling bad about having CAH. But there's also nothing wrong with wanting to hear some positive things as Michelle asked. Most everyone knows the pitfalls, thanks to these boards. I will forever be grateful for the warnings and hints I've learned. But as a parent I also want to hear that there are kids that are 'normal.' That they don't all get depressed and want to hurt themselves as some of the recent posters have said.

I have one child with SWCAH and 2 that don't. I treat the one no different in our every day life. My oldest is 5 and youngest 1 and they are already learning service through our church. Volunteering does help us all appreciate that our lives are gifts even in extreme circumstances. And the world would be a better place if we all volunteered wherever we could instead of sitting in our houses complaining about and getting depressed about a situation that you simply cannot change. Right now I can no more change my son's eyes from blue to brown, than I can take away his CAH. If I could I would, but I can't. So we dwell on the good things. The human conditions will always call for us to be 'fed up' sometimes. Hopefully that would not be the reason someone got depressed and I will do my best to make all my children understand that, CAH or not.

But what upsets me most and caused me to write, is that a mother wrote in specifically asking for positive comments, and you couldn't lift her up but felt the need shoot down everyone that tries to be better. Michelle, I hope you found some helpful and hopeful words in the other posts. My children are not of age yet, but I'm definitely glad to read what Kelly and some of the others have had to say.
