My own personal philosophy is that dwelling on the bad does no good. It just makes you and those around you feel badly. Whenever, I feel sad or depressed or helpless, I do something for someone else and I feel better. Why do you think I started CARES? I find that volunteerism is a good anecdote feeling helpless and depressed. Plus its a positive way to channel negative energies. That is just how I feel.

As far as Alyssa is concerned, both my kids (son w/o CAH)did a lot of community service. My only point was that notwithstanding my daughter's CAH status, My husband and I are allowing her to work in Africa--far away from home--this summer. We are not letting her CAH stop her from doing something very adventurous.

Michelle should know that her daughter is going to be fine. This is a message board, and many who post here are looking for answers to specific problems. It gives a skewed view of life with CAH. Most people with CAH live normal, happy lives--and have the same kinds of problems in life that people have who are not faced with a chronic health condition. Looking at life through the lens of the message board can seem unrealistically dim.
