Small for height and weight May. 12th, 2008 2:19pm
I know this has been slightly discussed before, but I am going to Indiana for a second opinion on my daughter (15 month SWCAH) this week and want to touch base one last time about size. She has been stuck at 17 lbs and 28 inches since about December. Her hormone levels are rediculously low (less than 10 for the 17 OHP and Aldosterine (sp?)) My endo said that she was being dosed based on a formula (body surface area/mg of hydro) and he is not comfortable lowing the hydro, but if the other dr wants to he is not oppossed (that's a confident dr for you :) ). How many of you have tiny toddlers? Are their hormone levels at a more appropriate level than my daughters? My current endo said that it is uncommon to see CAH kids who are short and skinny, usually the hydro will suppress the growth but cause weight gain. Is this the case? I am nearly positive several of you out there have said your kids are tiny, height and weight. I have a ton of questions to ask Dr. Nebesio when I get to Indiana, but I want to make sure I am correct that a lot of CAH kids are little. Thanks in advance.
