my daughter--now 2--used to do that all the time. She would run through the living room and crash into the wall, the door or the couch. She sometimes used to stand against the wall and bang her head. She still head butts me in the face or against my forehead sometimes. I know it hurts!!
I checked with our pediatrician and she said not to worry about it--that it's just a phase. She told me to try and ignore it since most likely she's doing it for a reaction. She doesn't do it anymore, so I'm sure yours will stop sooner or later. But to make yourself feel better, ask your doctor!
