That is a lot for a 2 year old in my opinion. But I am not her doctor. My daughter is going to be 11 in July and that is her dose. Terrible twos, God bless you. Being naughty may have something to do with too many of these steriods. DO try and find a small milligram tablet. Are you in the U.S.? This would make your job of splitting them SO much easier. And what you think you are splitting may not even close. I wish they made them in 1 mg tablets for the young ones. Honestly I hate waking my child for her meds. I wake her at 5 A.M. She is so used to it now, she doesn't even remember taking them. I make sure she has water with them too. So maybe, even if your daughter puts up a fuss, she really doesn't remember. I can remember my daughter's endo. never told us to give it at a early hour and I was mad when I found out on this board that that is when it should be given. He said their practice was to make it convienient for the newborn's schedule since it is so hard to get those feedings right in the begining. I still yelled at him and said I wanted to know. He doesn't do that anymore. So my suggestion is continue to wake her. That is my opinion but on the other hand, I am not the one that has to pull a pacifier out of a sleeping, cranky toddler. So it is easier said then done.
When I really hate waking my daughter for that early morning med. is when she is sick. UGH. I sit there and curse the word CAH. Of course this is when you just cannot skip that dose, or delay it so I give it. They really need it then. But I still hate waking her then. Especially if she has a bad cold and it took her hours to get to sleep. What I do is if she wakes up an hour earlier then the alarm goes off to wake her for her morning dose is just give it to her then. I say better earlier, then later. So try that, is she wakes up naturally at an earlier time.
