re: re: low blood sugar

Yes, Laura's right: it did happen to my daughter when she was around 3 yrs old (8 yrs ago now!). She did have a bit of a stuffy nose at the time, but wasn't what I'd call "sick" - freaked me out though!! I seem to recall that she hadn't really wanted a bedtime snack either, so had likely gone 12+ hrs without eating much of anything. After that, I'd always make sure that she had a good snack before bed, and that she'd have something first thing in the morning (no skipping breakfast for THIS preteen!). We also carried sugar tablets (from the pharmacy) around with us for awhile, but it never happened again ... seems she sort of "outgrew" it.

Is your daughter quite young? It may have something to do with her being small (if she is), and having a long stretch without food - this was something our pediatrician mentioned as a possible cause. If you've been having very hot weather, that could certainly exasperate the situation, too.

Hope you can find the underlying cause so that you can avoid it! Glad the she's doing fine now, too! Blessings,

Wendy-Lee
