re: re: re: re: Circadian Rythm Dosing - need info on timing
Jun. 11th, 2008   5:49pm

Since March we have been dosing our 9 year old daughter using the circadian rhythm with great results.  We dose at 3 am, 7 am, 1 pm and 7 pm.  Since switching to these dosing times we have cut her overall dose by 40% (from 25 mg of cortef daily to 15 mg)!   She was showing lots of signs of over suppression, so we are so thankful her levels are showing good control with less cortef.  We are giving 5 mg at 3 am (33.3%) 5 mg at 7 am, 2.5  (16.6%) at 1 pm and 2.5 at 7 pm - this isn't exactly as Moeller suggested, but I thought it a good compromise.  We approached our daughter's ped endo about the switch after reading about it on this message board's archives - he wasn't very supportive but agreed to let us try it - I am so glad we did!  The 3 am dosing isn't easy, but will be well worth the effort if it helps her maintain better control.  I would highly recommend trying it to any family whose child is experiencing signs of poor control.  I have been watching our daughter closely and have only noticed that she is less hungry throughout the day and is able to go to sleep at night MUCH, MUCH easier than when she was taking a large cortef dose at bedtime.
