re: re: child not walking- any Advice??
Jun. 12th, 2008   8:39am

My brother didn't walk until he was way past one year old. He never crawled either. All of a sudden he stood up one day and took off. We joke and say he is my mom's favorite, which I think he still is. My mom would joke and say he didn't need to walk because she carried him everywhere and he was just a lazy boy that had no reason to walk. If she is holding your hand to walk that is a very good sign. I wouldn't fret too much. I know it is easy to say when it isn't yours. But it sounds like soon she will be walking on her own. Check with your ped. so you have peace of mind, but it sounds like she is going to be walking soon.

As for her size and walking, I don't think that matters. My neighbor's daughter was extremely small and a very young walker. It was odd to see an infant walking around. I think she was 9 months old and walking.

Try bribery too. While she has your husband's hand and is walking, hand her a favorite toy or treat. Sometimes they forget they need that hand and let go aiming for that treat and there they will stand. Let us know when she starts walking so we can all celebrate with you.

Laura
