re: re: re: Health Insurance and CAH- Where is it?
Jun. 14th, 2008   8:11am
On page 6 of this website, Kelly Leight posted something about a descrimination act passed. But for some reason it doesn't pertain to pre-existing conditions. So I am a bit confused about the act myself. We need one that is stronger than this act. Don't even get me started on getting health insurance because we as a family has fought for coverage. My husband is in a new job. They have like ten employees. They are trying to get a group coverage plan and they keep getting rejected because of my daughter that has CAH and another family that has a daughter that is a toddler that has a hole in her heart. It is just ridiculous. So what they are saying is, "You are too much of a cost to our company and we are all about money." It makes me want to vomit. Rachel, don't you still get blood work done? And don't you still need medications purchased? And don't you still see an endocrinologist. I don't know all this because I have a child with CAH. I am not sure what happens to your care when you become an adult. Whatever the case is, you shouldn't get denied, period. I wonder if a state funding can cover you in any way. I know here in Ohio, it is only good until you are 18. I wondered often what would happen after the state stops paying for health care, what happens to these adults on this program. I will have to ask the Health Department. Let us know what happens will you? Maybe you will have to sadly give up this job and search for one with group coverage. That will be a stinking shame if that happens. And please do NOT go without coverage because you just never ever know what is going to happen. Even to healthy people, things can come up. You could be in an accident, or God knows what. So never ever go without some coverage. My husband and I found some temporary insurance programs throughout these months. But time is limited on them, and my daughter is not covered, but the state picked her up. BUT just her CAH care and her asthma care. Regular ped. visits are not covered. Scary. He found the job he finally loves and may have to give it up for the fact, we need Health Care coverage. It just ain't fair. Good Luck Rachel! Please let us know what happens.
Laura
