I took prednisone for 33 years in varies mgs (5-20) but with a then new Endo tried the generic Hydrocortisone and it worked great for a couple of years but around a year ago it just stopped working for me where I then did the cortef but the labwork was still bad - so back on the pred which is fine. The hydro was fine during my cancer treatemnt but I think that once my thyroid went a little more wacky that the adrenals needed the prednisone back. From what I read and in noway take this as advice but I think a wacky thyroid via hashimoto's thyroiditis can make the adrenals exhausted and then we through the CAH neediing cortisone on top of that.
The hydro might work but then again? you might go through the same thing I did and yep the puffy ankles ring a bell . I take 7.5 mgs of pred again and I feel like me whereas I could tell the hydro jsut wasn't cutting it anymore. I even asked the Endo 2 switch me back to the pred becuase of the way I felt on the hydro after taking it for 4 years and feeling good. After 3 months and an blod work he did switch me to the pred and I didn't even call then back for the results becuase i could feel the difference.
