Usually with a regular ear piercing, I wouldn't stress dose. Like for my daughter when she was 7 and got her ears pierced for the first time. I could never do it when she was an infant because it looked like it was miserable to lay on those big honken earrings. But no infant has seemed to complain that I know got them as an infant and slept fine. My sister in law would argue all the time with me to get my daughter's pierced. Her entire family are big into getting their infants ears pierced. I would tell her that we get enough blood work in one year that I couldn't see adding to her list of boo boo's for the month. That was hell enough on both of us. So we opted to wait until she was older. Even then it pinched. But to get back to the post question...... if she is a toddler I would stress dose for this. Think of how she deals with her blood draws. If she does ok with them, then I would skip the stress dosing. If she screams, and yells, I would stress dose. Why not. Good luck and enjoy picking out some pretty sparkly earrings.
Another note..... maybe if you have that numbing cream (EMLA Cream) you use for blood work, maybe you can use it on her ear lobes! I never thought of that. Next piercing, we are using that! We use it for splinter removal all the time, why not for this?
