Great answer Daddy's_girl.

The only other main thing Hannah I'd like to add is that, although the treatment in childhood and teen years may be good or even excellent, if your daughter decides to go off her meds when she is older (18, 19, 20) as kids are apt to do, then she may develop hirsutism very quickly. Once this hirsutism develops it is very hard to eliminate the hair follicles after they have established.

Let's be realistic here!! There is a wide spectrum of CAH females - some reasonably feminine and others very masculine! Some overweight, some (gulp) underweight or normal weight. Some of the outcomes depend on quality and compliance of treatment, some of it depends on severity of CAH, some of it depends on ability to metabolise the steroid medication efficiently... ad infinitum!

You just have to do your best and your part while she is young and leave the rest up to her and her doctor when she is older.

Megan
