Hannah Where do you live? We live in Canada and consulted with a surgeon at Toronto Hospital For Sick Children. He told me that they would use bowel tissue for the vaginoplasty but after researching I found out that this technique is not recommended. I eventually deceided to take my daughter to Dr Poppas in New York who is very experienced and uses current techniques. Everything turned out well and she looks and now functions like every other little girl. Contact the CARES foundation as they have information on surgery and a list of current experienced surgeons. My daughter was 3 yrs old when she had her surgery, we researched and consulted with surgeons for 2 yrs before we made our decision. Don't worry about a time frame it is best to take the time and find the right surgeon. Hope this helps.
