re: My 19 month old son LOSING WEIGHT and NOT growing!!
Jun. 25th, 2008   10:13am

I know exactly where you are coming from. My 2 yr old is only 32" tall and 25 lbs. His weight has gone up and down by a few pounds since he was born. At his one week check up, we found out he had lost over 9 oz. which my sister told me was normal but my heart was telling me different. So after 3 blood tests in 2 days, we found out at 2 weeks old that he had SWCAH. I came very close to losing my son. But in keeping up with his endo ( who sees him every 2 months) my son is doing well. At his next appointment we are going to do extra blood work to make sure he hasnt developed any new conditions that would slow his growth. If all the tests come back ok he is going on growth hormones. My son was classified by Social Security as being "failure to thrive" and nothing has ever been said to me about hospitalizing him. And all of his doctors know what Social Security classified him as. Ask your pediatricain about possibly giving your son PediaSure. It'll give him an extra 200 to 300 calories a day. We did it for my son and it helped. If I can help you in any other way feel free to email me at LILDSMOMEE@yahoo.com
