Salt Intake for Infants
Jul. 1st, 2008   4:59pm

My SWCAH daughter is just beginning to start solids. Currently I pump breast milk and add 1 tsp salt solution to each bottle to maintain normal sodium levels. Now that she is starting solids, she isn't finishing her bottles (and thus I am not sure if she is getting the adequate amount of salt). I do think she will have more than enough when she is eating more than just rice cereal and vegetables. Has anyone been given guidelines as to how many mg. of sodium an infant should eat daily if they are a salt waster? My guess is that a lot of this depends on weight, etc...

Thanks

lauren
