re: re: Upcoming knee surgery for 15 yo grandson Aug. 10th, 2008 7:56pm
Thanks for remembering and I hope you had a great vacation. What an ordeal. He had his surgery on Wed the 6th. His endo did correspond with the surgeon and anesthesiologists and everything went well. He was stress dosed for 3 days following the surgery and went back to his normal meds today. Jess has a high tolerance for pain, but he even admitted, the pain has been "miserably bad". Poor thing. It's so hard for a rising sophomore high school football player to have to have this rehab and physical therapy in front on him for the next few months. I don't even now exactly how long he'll be going through the therapy. Not only did he have the torn ACL, but when the dr. got in he discovered his miniscus also had a lateral tear in it, which was the one thing we were all praying that had not happened. It had not shown up on the MRI, so we weren't expecting it. He's a trooper and will be fine. This is his first surgery of any type and we were all so concerned about the "what ifs". Thank you again for your concern and please keep him in your prayers. He has a long road ahead of him and won't be able to play sports until "maybe" Spring baseball. He did the damage to his knee playing summer baseball, so we're not anxious for him to resume, but he's a great athlete and we can't keep him from playing.
