re: re: First time growth hormone (very hard) Sep. 8th, 2008 5:10pm
My son has been getting growth hormones for about 6 months now and in the beginning he was very nervous about it also. Sometimes I would just sit with him for as long as it took for him to be ready to get the injection. He also said he didn't want to get them but now he is seeing the results and he feels much better about it.
I found that if I left the injection out of the refridgerator for about 15 minutes before giving him the shot it seemed to sting a little less. His older brother is done growing and only made it to 5'3" even after getting Lupron injections and taking Letrozole for 2 years. He tells his younger brother that he would do anything to have been able to get the growth hormones when he was still growing. Unfortunately, I got some bad advice from our endo and never pushed for the growth hormones like I did for my younger son.
There are a lot of challenges and hard choices that we have to make for our kids with CAH. Good luck to you and hopefully things will get easier for you daughter and you.
