Medic Alert bracelet and sports
Sep. 15th, 2008   3:10pm
My daughter is 12 with SWCAH.  She is very active with sports-soccer, basketball and baseball.  With basket and base ball she wears a sportband over the bracelet-no big deal.  With soccer, the Refs don't want any jewelry, even the velcro medicalert bracelet without metal parts.  Here's the issue: for the league soccer on weekends either me or Dad are with her, so she takes the bracelet off.  In emergency, we would be there and know what to do.  For the school jr. high soccer team, she will be at games after school without one of us with her.  She will have her emergency meds with her, and the coach has her 504 plan, but if she's not wearing the bracelet, I worry they will forget, in an emergency, that she has a medical condition.  My daughter doesn't like all this attention, but I think she should be allowed to wear the bracelet during the game.  Can anyone share their experiences with this?  Thanks
Pamela
