pregnancy and osteoporosis from long term use of cortisol
Apr. 2nd, 2009   11:39pm
Hi there. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. I am a 27 year old woman who was diagnosed with CAH at age 13. at age 26 a genetic test showed no evidence of the disease--one was not run at the initial diagnosis. but, i had been taking high doses of cortef for 14-15 years and now have a -3.2 z score in my lower spine. I am weaned off the steroids, but my bone density will not go much higher. the thing is, isnt this a common problem for women on steroids? how worried about this should i be in relation to getting pregnant? I've heard every possible different answer from ten different docotrs, so did any of you have this problem while pregnant? is this a reason NOT to get pregnant for a while, or look for a surrogate? please help with your advice, experiences, etc. we have been trying to have a baby for 3 years now, and that is actually what led us to find out the diagnosis was wrong in the first place, but desperately want a baby now. thanks--amanda
amanda
